Joint protection DuctShell®

Joint protection DuctShell®

  • Secures the joint of two microduct bundles in the ground.
  • Our DuctShell complies with DIN EN 50411-2-8 for microducts and the material recommendation of the German Federal Government.
  • Supports installers in the processing of the junction, thus ensuring consistent quality in this sensitive area.
  • Supports the documentation of the fiber optic network.
  • The strain relief of the Ductshell absorbs the entire tensile force at the microduct bundle and prevents it from being pulled out of the microduct connectors.
  • Increases the durability of your fiber optic network and reduces operating costs.

For a microduct bundle with up to 12 microducts, we recommend our joint protector DuctShell 750.

For a microduct bundle with more than 12 microducts, we recommend our joint protector DuctShell 1500.

Description

Fiber optic networks, especially the microducts should fulfill their technical function for the next 20-30 years after their installation. One weak point is the connection points of two microduct bundles.

The joint protection in the 750 or 1500 versions secures the joint between two microduct bundles in the ground. The predefined structure in the lower shell provides installers with a clear guideline for placing the individual connectors with a constant distribution. The strain reliefs on both sides transfer tensile and push forces to the lower shell and no longer to the microducts. The top shell, which is attached with cable ties at the end of the installation, protects the connection point from damage during excavation work and prevents sanding of the connectors, which can thus be easily reopened on demand.

Advantages

  • The joint protector helps installers to set and distribute the joints correctly and with consistent quality thanks to the assembly aids integrated in the bottom shell.
  • The dark color of the lower shell makes the color coding of the individual microducts more visible and thus prevents incorrect connections due to color confusion.
  • All connections are located inside the shell and can be processed without a long search if necessary.
  • Due to the closed system, the microduct connections are not damaged when they are dug out again.
  • Crushing of the individual microducts by debris and stones due to soil compaction is impossible.
  • With the two sizes of the joint protection 1500 and 750, all known microduct bundles can be secured in the way described above.
